What Rollerblading Taught Me About Running a Business
There’s a pair of rollerblades sitting in my garage that hold more weight than wheels.
When I was 10 years old, I had a traumatic accident while rollerblading — one of those moments that gets etched into your body’s memory. The kind of fear that doesn’t just bruise your skin, but settles deep into your bones. Ever since, putting on skates has made my heart pound in ways that don’t always feel good.
And yet… I still love it.
The wind, the freedom, the movement — they call me back every time.
So I lace them up.
I take a breath.
And I do it scared.
Being an entrepreneur feels a lot like that.
No matter how prepared you are, how skilled or passionate — there will always be moments when fear creeps in. The fear of failure. The fear of not being enough. The fear of what others might think. Starting a business, launching a new idea, sharing your story publicly — it’s all a little terrifying, especially when you care deeply.
But here’s the truth I’ve come to learn:
You don’t have to be fearless to be successful.
You just have to keep showing up.
Fear doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong — often, it means you’re doing something meaningful. Something that matters. Something that stretches you.
I’ve built Babb’s Marketing from that place — from a love of helping others grow, from a deep passion rooted in personal legacy, and yes, from moments of self-doubt and fear. But I keep lacing up. I keep rolling forward. And I’ve learned to do it scared.

So whatever “rollerblades” you’re facing right now — a new business, a hard decision, a bold leap — I hope you remember this:
Fear doesn’t get the final say.
You do.
